Growing Out

Stella is at the groomers today, getting cleaned up. I'm not having her clipped for awhile so she'll grow out like her Mommy, who is in the picture above. Her name is Canyon Hills Little Surfer Girl, she's an AKC and CKC champ and I can see why, she's gorgeous! I just wonder what Stella will look like all fluffy and furry. I'll probably keep her trimmed afterwards though. Long coats are just too much work. Bad enough that I brush her teeth every day, I don't think I want to brush her hair every day too.

Favorite Christmas Gift

Sarah had Alex print out what he thought was a recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies. She then had it transfered onto a dishtowel, which hangs proudly in my kitchen. It's a great conversation piece :) Thanks Alex!
P.S. Yes, it was 6:59AM and I was making breakfast when I took that picture. Ironic that when you have all the time in the world to sleep, you can't. Getting old sucks!
Of course, the alternative sucks too!

Home Sweet Home

The boys are alive.
Stella and I are alive.
My job is done :)

Yawn

After getting cleaned up this morning, I went to visit my Dad and then my Grandma at the nursing home. I couldn't get my Dad to stay awake long enough to talk to him. I gave him the candy I'd brought for him and a kiss and he drifted back to sleep. Bye, Dad.

I then, went and got Grandma and took her downstairs to the cafeteria for lunch. While eating, she said, "Are you tired?"
"No, Grandma, I'm not tired."
"Well, you look tired."
"But, Grandma, I'm not."
"But you feel tired."
"No, I don't."

Later, sitting in her room visiting, she says, "Well, you'd better go home so you can rest."
"Grandma, I'm not tired, I don't need to rest."
"Well, you look tired to me."
"Yes, but I'm not."
"You really do look tired you know."

Evidently, I'm boring and look like shit today. Wonder if I should have a nap just in case I really am tired? :)

Weekend Plans

Allison and Karter are going to Bismarck tonight for the weekend. Stella and I will be staying with the boys until Sunday. They will be going to Day Care tomorrow after breakfast so I can do a few errands.
Emily said she was going to come and play with us tomorrow night.
Saturday, I plan to take them to visit my Dad and Grandma at the nursing home.
I may or may not take them to Sunday School on Sunday morning.
I sure hope they're on their best behavior and if they're not, they better be willing to snuggle :)

Happy Hour

I spent the morning in the kitchen today. I baked 9 dozen chocolate chip cookies, caramelized an onion, chopped a couple packages of mushrooms and made and baked some phyllo cups. I'm going to make a caramelized onion, mushroom, cheese and hoisin sauce filling for them and serve them for Happy Hour tonight. I'm also serving chicken and vegetable pot stickers with a soy/ginger sauce. I made the sauce this morning too. Hope the girls come hungry :)

Celebrating Valentine's Day

Jane and Marty took me to the Heritage Singers' Variety Show last night. It amazes me what talented people we have in good old Minot! I had a great time, but then, I always do with Jane and Marty. They're good people :) And it was nice not to have to stay home and feel sorry for myself. Jim and I were engaged on Valentine's Day 1972 so it's a rather hard day for me.

Ewww, Stella!

My baby is a beautiful little girl but she has the most wicked farts ever! How can someone so cute smell so wretched? Phewwww!

Yes, I DO need my head examined, thank you!

I've been putting off errands all week and decided to do them today, in the storm! We're supposed to have around 8 inches of snow by the time it's all over. I went to Mom's for my shot, went to the bank, Picked up a frame at Hobby Lobby, returned some things to JC Penneys, bought a couple of things at Target, had a late lunch at Burger King, picked up some things at Herbergers, stopped at the Centennial to bring caramels to one of my favorite nurses, picked up my new glasses, dropped some pants off at Mom's (yes, I went there twice), and just barely made it home. As it was, I couldn't get up 23rd street to Mom's and had to back down and go all the way to Broadway to get up the hill. The roads are a nightmare and I'm an idiot. There wasn't one thing that absolutely had to be done today...

:(

Stella got away from me last night and I didn't know what to do. She runs so fast and the more I chased her, the farther she ran. It was 11:45 PM and she kept getting farther from home. I cried with relief when I was finally able to catch her. What would I do without my baby? And how would she get along without me?

Two Months Smoke Free

YAY me!! :)
I'm guardedly optimistic that I'm going to be able to remain smoke free. I've been out in smokey bars, sat next to my smoking friends and sat at my Mom's table with her while she smoked and I've not touched a cigarette for two months. I've gained 6 pounds but that's a small price to pay for being able to kick the habit. I'd rather be fat than a smoker.

Sunday Dinner With Grandma

After lunch at the nursing home with Grandma, I came home to make dinner for my grandsons. Seems weird to go from the role of grandchild to grandmother in the span of a few hours.

Friday Sandwiches

"Grandma, can you take all four of us to the Real Fork, because we're all hungry for the Real Fork." (he means Royal Fork)

Phone conversation with Jameson at 6:00PM this afternoon. After I told him that I couldn't because I'd already eaten dinner, he said disgustedly, "Daddy said Friday sandwiches."
I assume Karter suggested fried egg sandwiches for dinner :)
From the sounds of it, Jameson didn't think that was a very good plan.

Nose Scabs

I finally broke down and bought a humidifier for my bedroom. When your nose bleeds everytime you blow it, you know it's time.

Bucket List

Deb and I were going to see this movie last night. She got sick so my Mom went with me instead. We both really enjoyed it :)

She's making dinner tonight and after lunch at the nursing home, I'm ready for some good food.

A Man in my Bed :)

Jameson Peter that is :) He's spending the night tonight.
I'm taking him to his doctor's appointment at 2:50PM, to his basketball practice from 4:00 to 5:00 and then we'll pick up Grandma 2 and take her out for dinner with us.

Tomorrow, we'll meet Allison for lunch and IF he's a good boy, he can spend the rest of the day with me instead of going to Day Care.
Of course, he always spend the rest of the day with me whether he's good or not :)

Walleye and Fifty bucks!

I was at the Hunter's for a Super Bowl party yesterday and ate so much walleye, I thought I was going to explode! YUM!

The only part of the Super Bowl I watched was Tom Petty's halftime entertainment and I still managed to win $50 on the game :) AND, I also won at Tripoly... guess it was my lucky day!

So, You've Read My Blog

You know how I feel and why. No, I don't want to talk to you. Explanations at this point don't matter and wouldn't change what happened. What's done is done. I just want to forget about it.

You Gotta Be Kidding Me!

OK, because I have two freaking black camisoles did you think I wouldn't miss one??
Everyone who knows me, knows I'm an everything has a place and everything's in it's place kind of gal. I DO NOT misplace clothes!
So, I go to get dressed to go out tonight and because it's cold out there, I wanna wear a camisole under my sweater. Besides, it smoothes out that extra skin I've acquired. My hamper is empty because I washed clothes today and I can't find my favorite black camisole. All the others are stacked right where they belong. Damn, I took a super expensive cruise! :(
When is the madness going to end! Stealing?? WTH???

ACK!

Last Saturday morning, I noticed Stella chewing on what appeared to be wood. She brought it out from under my bed where she hides things. I took it away from her and looked it over and it looked like baseboard to me. I looked around a bit but couldn't see anyplace where it was missing. That is until today. While doing laundry, I happened to close the door and there's about an inch wide strip between the door and the corner of the wall where the baseboard is gone. I can't prove it happened while the dog sitter was here but I sure think it probably did. I think I would know if she dug at the wall long enough to pull a piece of baseboard away from it while I was here. ARGHHH! What next??
