Sweet Dreams

I picked Jameson up from Day Care at 5:00 PM tonight. I took him to the nursing home to visit Grandma Roll and then to the mall for a haircut. As long as we were there, we stopped and had dinner. After he ate a whole cup of Pretzel Bites, we went to Game Stop where I bought him a Game Boy and a couple of games. A dish of ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery and he was ready to come home to a soak in the tub. Now he's trying very hard to go to sleep. Poor little guy, it's hard to sleep when you've got an exciting day ahead of you.

Seven Minutes

That's how long it took me to pack my suitcase tonight. No kidding! Wonder what I forgot?? Wonder if I care??
Yep, you're right, I don't.

Three More Sleeps

Jameson and I have today, tomorrow and Wednesday to get ready to leave for Boston. We're leaving on the 10AM flight Thursday morning. In other words, I have today, tomorrow and Wednesday to get ready, although Allison will be packing his bag.
Gage is going to spend the night with me tonight so he doesn't feel quite so left out. I told them both I would take them when they turned 6 so he has to wait until summer of 2010 for his turn. I think I'll take him shopping tonight to pick out a consolation prize.

Metigoshe

I'm getting ready to go to the lake for the weekend with Kathy. I love it up there and this will be the first time I've been this year. Can't wait to have a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings from the drive-in!
And, I'm anxious to see how far they've come on their new cabin. (LOL! She calls it a cabin but I've seen the plans. It's more of a McMansion than a cabin.)
Stella's going to spend the weekend with her big sister.

Youch!!

I had the varicose veins on my left leg injected yesterday. If anyone ever tries to tell you it doesn't hurt, they're lying!

I Caved

and bought walking shoes yesterday. I used a pedometer this morning and Stella and I walked 1.43 miles on our morning route. The evening one is probably only a mile.
Holy Exercise Batman!

Good Friends & Good Food

I had Jane, Marty, Clancy, Anna and Emily over for dinner last night. We had chicken, knephla, mashed potatoes and gravy, roasted asparagus, homemade buns and French coconut cream bars (aka Marty Bars) for dessert.
I had a wonderful time and I think everyone else did too.
I love my friends!
Stella loves them too!

Oh, What A Beautiful Morning!

It was gorgeous yesterday morning! Stella and I took a new route during our walk and evidently, it was too long for her. She started puking about a block away from home and had to be carried the rest of the way :( Poor thing!

But, she rallied later in the day and went to Jameson and Austin's T-Ball game with me where she sat on my lap and was so good the entire game :)

After we got home, Kathy and Roscoe came over for a walk. Stella loves running along side of him but he's allowed to wander at will and I don't want her doing that. I want her to walk on my right side, not on the grass, not in front of me, not in the street and not stopping every 15 steps to pee. When we walk, we walk. She's doing fabulous when we're alone but it's hard to reign her in when he's there too. I'm not sure I'm going to agree to walking them together anymore.

I've been walking with her so much lately, I'm contemplating buying some walking shoes. I even enjoy it when the weather is ugly. Now, that's scary!! LOL!

I Really Did Learn Everything I Ever Needed To Know In Kindergarten!

I paid the most I've ever paid for a pair of sandals last weekend. But they have lots and lots of crystals and bling and I love them. They make me happy.
Be aware the picture doesn't do them justice. They literally twinkle when I take a step. In fact, the first time I wore them three of my friends had to try them on.
At our ages, we probably haven't tried each others shoes on for 30 or more years.

How far away from Sketchers that light up when you take a step am I?

Pillow Talk

Stella likes to sit on top of the couch and look out the dining room window when I'm getting cleaned up in the morning. I wander while I brush my teeth, so I find myself doing other things while brushing away.

Today, I wandered into my bedroom and plumped a pillow, getting ready to make the bed.

Stella hit the floor with a thump and came bounding into my room. She jumped onto the bed and grabbed a corner of the sheet. She looked up at me with a , "Hey, how dare you do this without me? " look on her face! It was priceless.

She still loves wrestling me for the sheets and blanket. Silly little girl :)

This dog cracks me up!

Things That Make You Go, "hhhmmmmmmm"

I quit smoking four months before Jim died. During those four months, he always teased me that he would get me up and walking. Being the ultimate lazy slug, of course I told him that would never happen.

When he died so suddenly, I started smoking again. Stupid, I know and I have no excuse.

However, today I am celebrating six months of non-smoking. AND I’m walking one mile twice a day!

Is it a coincidence that the reason is a furry, little eleven pound girl, who, amazingly has Jim’s unusual green eyes AND loves to go for walks???!!!

hhhmmmmmmmmmmm…….

Smoke Free!

It's been six months today! YAY!!!!!!!!

(I've gained about 12 pounds though )

Fickle Little Bitch!

Stella adores Allison and goes nuts when Allison stops over. She stopped this morning as I was getting ready to take Stella to the groomer. As soon as Allison picked her up, she wouldn't even look at me. I mean, she made a serious effort to NOT look at me. I tried to take her from Allison's arms and she stuck her paw out to push me away. It was clear she wanted nothing to do with me :) Silly little dog! She's lucky I like her :)

What's This All About?

When the cleaning lady comes, she picks up all of Stella's toys and puts them in a basket sitting on my dining room floor. After she leaves, Stella takes all the toys out, one by one. She doesn't play with them once they're out of the basket but she certainly does not want them in there. Weird!

Confessions of a Ramen Virgin

Up until last night, I had never had ramen noodles. I love noodles so I bought a package about 4 months ago. It's been in my pantry ever since. I just couldn't bring myself to eat it. So, yesterday at lunch time, I was starving and my pantry was pretty bare. I didn't want to leave the house, so I decided it was time to try the noodles.

Today, I bought four more packs :) I loved them. The only thing I don't love about them is that when I Googled them, I found that a lot of people pay only 88 cents for them. I paid $1.29. I doubt that I could find them around here any cheaper but still, $1.29 isn't bad for a meal.

Marty Bars

I've decided I should just call my French Coconut Cream Bars, Marty Bars. He can wax poetically for a long time on the merits of these bars. I've got the first layer in the oven now and they smell wonderful! Here's to you, Marty!

French Coconut Cream Bars
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup butter
1 cup water
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

* Mix flour, sugar and soda. Put aside. In saucepan, mix butter, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil. Pour over flour mixture and mix well. Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Pour into greased and floured 10x15 jelly roll pan or two 9x13 pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Cool Completely.

Filling:
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 cup soft butter
1 tablespoon coconut flavoring (found by the vanilla)

* Mix well with mixer and spread on completely cooled bars. Put in frig to set while making glaze.

Glaze:
1 cup butter
12 oz. milk chocolate chips
2 teaspoons vanilla

* Melt butter and chips. Add vanilla and spread evenly over bars. Return to frig to chill completely before cutting into squares.

On The Road Again

So, I'm driving to Bozeman, MT today... by myself. A nine hour drive.
About 5 weeks ago, Shirley asked if she could ride with me and share my hotel room. I said yes.
About 4 weeks ago, Deb asked if she could ride with me and share my hotel room. I said yes.
Deb called Sunday to tell me she'd decided to go with her daughter on Tuesday.
Shirley called Monday to say she had decided to go with Jennifer and they were both riding with Patty and Roger on Friday.
I called them both back and asked whether they were still going to be staying in my room.
Uuuuhhh, no, seems they've changed that too.
I guess I was OK until something better presented itself.
So, not only am I driving there all alone, I'm also staying alone.
My feelings are hurt :(

Buddies

Stella gets very excited when I tell her Gage is coming over. She plays with him the same way she plays with Nugget. Maybe she thinks he's a dog too? Whatever the case, it's fun to watch them run and play.
