The Man In My Bed

Stella won't go to bed with this one until he's asleep :)
And btw, my sheets aren't dingy, they really are cream colored :)

Um, yeah...

Not the look I'd wanna be sporting while I stocked the shelves at Walmart. Wouldn't ya think she'd feel the draft??

Straddling The Couch

I love the way Stella straddles the couch while she watches out the picture window.

Flowering Crabs

The flowering trees are so beautiful right now, I had to pull over and take a picture.

I Hate Weekends

Especially when the weather is beautiful. I've got nothing to do, nowhere to go and nobody to do it with. At least when the weather is bad I can (kind of) fool myself into believing that even if I had something to do, somewhere to go and someone to do it with, I'd stay home anyway. On a sunny, gorgeous day like today?? Not so much :(

Why Is It?

Once a month, my Stampin Up! consultant has a techniques class. You go to her house, pay $10 and make 3 beautiful greeting cards using her supplies. I go as often as I can and really enjoy the 1-1/12 hours I spend making cards and chatting with the other women there. Allison usually goes with me and it's a nice Mother/Daughter experience. And while I continue to bitch about the high price of greeting cards at the store, I have only used about 2 of my beautiful handmade cards. When an occasion arises, I get in my car and drive to the nearest Hallmark store and spend way too much for a card, even though I have a drawer full of handmade ones. Riddle me that one, Batman!

Might As Well Jump

Jump. Go ahead, jump!
Van Halen was running through my head as I watched Allison jump on a trampoline for the first time.

Dog Tired

After playing at the dog park and a huge drink of water, every girl needs some down time.

Overnight Visitor

Stella's guarding the action at Jameson's garage. She never lets him get too far away from her when he's visiting and even goes to bed when he does. When Gage is here, it's a different story. He bugs her constantly and she doesn't get into bed with him until after he's already asleep.

Pretty In Pink :)

You Know You're A Bitch

... when an older couple you don't even know walks by holding hands and you instantly hate their guts. Why do they get to enjoy life together and I don't?

You Know You're A Bitch

... when you clean and sweep out your garage with the big door closed because you don't want your nosy neighbor across the street to come over and supervise like he does when anyone else is working in their garage with the big door open. Gossipy old woman!

The Garage

is clean!
Now, if I can just get rid of everyone elses' junk, I'll be set. And yes, once again I smell like a goat :)
Off to remedy that.

Broken Hearted

I'm cleaning the garage. By myself. This is a job Jim and I always did together :(
It hurt my heart to see his Webber grill with dust on it :(

Let There Be Light

I took Mom shopping this morning and she bought five new lamps. We met Joe for lunch and then took them up to her apartment and set them all up.
The cable guy (no, it wasn't Larry) was there this morning and hooked her new TV up to cable so she can now read and watch TV :)
Joe went back to work and I stayed and hung pictures. Of course, I forgot to take pictures.
I am officially done! From now on when I go up there, it'll be strictly as a visitor :)

Boo Hoo, No Blue!

This is what 100 caramels looks like. And I can't believe that with the ton of caramel packaging supplies I have, I don't have any blue wrappers! I'm a matchy-matchy type girl and I wanted blue :(
If I could get the wrappers locally, you can bet that they would've been wrapped in blue wrappers.

Oh, yeah...

I made a batch of caramels when I got home too.

Moving Sucks!

I'm pooped. I went to Mom's at 10:30 and started loading my car with clothes from her bedroom and coat closets, all her shoes and pictures from her walls. I cleaned out the frig and gathered the coffee pot, toaster, iron, and supplies from under her sink and lugged it all out to the car along with all the odds and ends that were still at the house. We hauled it all up to her new apartment, lugged everything in and put everything away. I hung her shower curtain, we made up her bed and then hauled all the empty boxes out. Except for pictures on the walls, everything is done up there. I called her later and she was curled up on her new couch reading a book :)
I'm sure I smelled like a goat when I got home.

All that's left at her house are a couple pieces of furniture that are going to be picked up this week, a few cleaning supplies and her vacuum cleaner. I'm done there.

I'm so thankful that Joe did the majority of hauling the heavier boxes and furniture and that Shari and Paul helped man the garage sale. Next time she moves I think Mary and Carol should come and do it ;)

Tomorrow, I'm taking her shopping for a floor lamp, two table lamps for her living room and two bedside table lamps for her bedroom. I told her I'd also hang her pictures tomorrow. Then I'll be done at the apartment too.

Watch for pictures tomorrow night :)
It's 9:14 PM and this goat is heading to bed!
P.S I took a bath when I got home so even though I feel like a goat, I no longer smell like one :)

It's A Boy!!

Today I bought all the paper products for the baby shower brunch I'm having on Saturday for Jane's daughter, Megan. I'm making homemade caramels to put in little favor bags for the guests tomorrow and plan to do the grocery shopping on Wednesday. Thursday I'll rest :) and Friday I'll be making Bacon Swiss and Cinnamon Pecan muffins. Such a busy week for such an old lady :)

Weekend Update

Mom had a garage sale this weekend and got rid of a bunch of furniture and junk. Almost everything is moved up to her new apartment and she and I unpacked her kitchen on Saturday. All that's left in the old place are her clothes in the closet and a few misc. items that can easily be hauled up there.

Karter and Joe installed a 46" HDTV yesterday, a gift from all her children and her four oldest grandkids. It's sure looking nice up there.

2009 DLB Preschool Graduation

When I grow up, I want to be
"... a fireman. Because I can help people."

Check out the little girl in the front row center. Love the mortar board with the tassel hanging between her eyes!

Quote For The Day

Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater.
If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby.
If you give her a house, she'll give you a home.
If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.
If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart.
She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.

My Friend Jane

I love it when Jane stops after work to have a drink with me.

Miss Thing

Or maybe it should be Miss Thing II?
My friend, Sharon has an eight year old daughter, named Gianna. They call her G for short and sometimes, her mother lovingly calls her Miss Thing. She's a girl who knows what she wants. Love that.
When I was in Cleveland two years ago visiting, I fell in love with their dog, Shadow. So much so that I decided then and there that I was going to get a dog. And not just any dog, I wanted a dog just like Shadow.
When I got home, I looked up the puppies available from Shadow's breeder in Florida. I saw Stella's picture and instantly fell in love with her. This was the puppy I wanted.
Unbeknown to me at the time, Sharon had shown G the website after I'd left and she had picked the same puppy for me :) When I heard that, I knew it was meant to be. I called the breeder and one thing led to another.
Stella is registered as Stella G Aiken.
G for Sharon's daughter, G. Stella, because I've always loved that name for a little girl dog, and Aiken because Jim would've loved her to death.
Interestingly enough, Stella has one of the same personality traits that G does.
She knows what she wants.
A good trait for a female to have in my opinion.
At any rate, she is my Miss Thing and the name fits beautifully. She's a girl with attitude :) I prefer to call it personality though ;)
Isn't she cute guarding the house from the back of the couch?

YAY ME!!!

Hey, Sarah! I did it!! Html isn't so hard when someone holds your hand through it :) Thanks!

Dinner Bell

I'm having Allison and her gang over for dinner tonight. My lawn looks like this again, thanks to Stella and I need Karter to reseed it. Dinner is a small price to pay :)

Yoo-Hoo, Sarah?

You need to teach me how to add a link in my blog post so that it looks like yours do. Please?

Happy Birthday Stella!!

My baby is two years old today! I think I'll give her a bully stick to celebrate later this afternoon. I bought her cute new dog dishes in the Detroit airport yesterday and she seems to like them.
And for those who didn't read about the bully stick, here's my original post on them. If you have a weak stomach, you may want to skip it :)http://mothergoosesmeanderingmind.blogspot.com/2009/03/bully-sticks.html

Off To Charlotte, NC

It won't be the same without my best scrapping buddy, Sharon but I'm determined to have a good time.

I miss you Sharon!! Take care my friend, I'll be calling for updates as the week wears on :)

PITA

I have a sore on my butt about the size of a quarter. It's right at the fold where my leg is attached to my butt. It hurts, especially when I sit down. Maybe I got it from spending too much time on my ass? It certainly gives new meaning to pain in the ass. I guess I'll spend the afternoon reading and sitting on a heating pad. For once in my life, I'll have a "hot ass"!!!

Phone Calls

Stella doesn't like it when I talk on the phone. I guess she thinks all my attention should be focused on her. She brings me Bobo and then growls at me until I toss it for her.
Gage just called and I answered on my corded phone. All of a sudden Stella put her paw on the cord and pulled the receiver right out of my hands. Silly dog!

Where's My Paper??

I've continuously subscribed to the Minot Daily News since 1976. I pay six months in advance and have never been late. Normally it's in my door when I wake up and I read it while having breakfast.

Today when I woke up, it wasn't there and it's still not there. And even though there usually isn't much in it, I still feel like I'm going through withdrawal. Breakfast just wasn't the same. Wahhhhhhh!

Donna Downey Sucks!

My best scrapping friend, Sharon and I signed up for Donna Downey's Inspired event in North Carolina last August. It cost us $545 each. We also signed up for a mini-workshop which cost us $85 each. The event is scheduled for next week.
Sharon has been diagnosed with cancer and her surgey is scheduled for next Tuesday, a day before we were supposed to fly out. Ummm, it can't wait, obviously. It's cancer.

So, Sharon e-mailed the event planner about what was going on. The planner e-mailed her back saying that the event was non-refundable and non-transferable.

Now, that just stinks to high heaven. Yes, I understand they need to have some kind of policy in place to cover themselves from people who would sign up and then flake out in the end. Sharon is not flaking out, Hello? It's cancer. She didn't plan it, she didn't want it and she would much rather be going to North Carolina to meet me than down to surgery. However, when you have to book an event that far in advance, there should be some recourse should an emergency arise. I'm sure she could get a doctor's note. C'mon people! It's cancer!

And the non-transferable thing really blows my mind. So, even if Sharon found someone willing to buy her spot, she couldn't do it. Not that that would happen this late in the ballgame. Hell, she can't even give it away.

Anyway, I am less than impressed and if I didn't have that original $635, another $554 for airfare and about $175 in supplies already invested, I'd stay home too. I do know that I will never attend another Donna Downey event.
